How We Began
Before Chuck Fakes had even got his license or graduated high school he had fully restored his first project, a 1958 Pontiac Stratochief. He soon built himself a race car and successfully raced two season of circuit racing (open sports cars class) by the time he was 20. Chuck has only broadened his car collection and skill set ever since, completing a motorsports degree and working for one of the most reputable V8 Supercar teams in Australia. Being a qualified fabricator and having a creative streak has seen Chuck put his wild ideas to life in the creation of his purpose built dirt racer Astroflame.
Hi, i’m Rhea! I grew up with a mechanic for a dad, and have a great passion for muscle cars and all things mechanical. I spent my high school years playing with old falcons and after graduating I completed my studies in Mechanical Engineering and took on my first project, the full build and restoration of my 460 big block powered XB Coupe. I look after the parts side of the business and making sure everything runs smoothly in the workshop with project builds. Before we started Heavy Metal Garage I previously enjoyed working for various automotive and hot rod shops, and it has been such a delight to be part of this industry and the journey this business has taken us on. We appreciate our customers so much and literally could not do this without you, so thank you for your support! 🙂Â
